Treasure Trove, A Historic Gated Community

The gated community of Treasure Trove was founded in 1921 by Ernest Cole. Cole was a Chicagoan who purchased the large tract of land that ran from Tigertail Avenue to Biscayne Bay. During construction of his winter home, workers found treasures such as gold and coins which gave it the name of Treasure Trove.  This discovery prompted a series of articles about the possibility that Cole had unearthed pirates gold. Cole later sold off the piece of land between South Bayshore Drive and Biscayne Bay to George and Dorothy Engle, founders of the Coconut Grove Playhouse. That piece of land was later sold to what is now The Coral Reef Yacht Club.

Today Treasure Trove is home to 10 single-family homes which offer 4-6 bedrooms with 3,000 – 5,000 square feet of living space.
